I decided on a name for my website. “The Spot” like “the hang out” or “the place to be”…it’s “the spot.” I have a cool logo that has all the letters to “spot” in it, while maintaining a contemporary and abstract design. Now I am working on a slogan. All I have so far is a re-make of Kia’s: “Make every click count.” But I am also thinking about “What you need…to know.” (The grammar and punctuation will have to be worked on though.) But it is coming along quite nicely. It never takes long to make a site once there is a purpose and a design to achieve.

Anyway, work was slow today. We finally got our food cost done, but Steve did it from Mexia, instead of Hubbard like he said he would.

The first time he did it, he was with his wife who helped…they got 15%….way too low. Then he did it on his own and got a 38%…way too high. But those average out to about 26.5%. I counted by myself Monday…took 30 minutes, as compared to his (and every other manager’s) 1 hour. I came to a 25.8%, where 26%-27% is expected…less is better. DANG GOOD! And that is with me pretty much running the store since he is hardly ever there.

We got more cleaned today, but not much. We ran close to $300 and every time I started on my cleaning project someone came in or pulled to the drive-thru.

Dah well…I got paid today, and have been shorted about 4 hours of overtime – that’s $42 (minus taxes), but that’s money and money that I need. So I have to talk to Steve about it.

I also haven’t heard from Dr. Brooks, the Dean of Students at ETBU, about my RA check. So I have to call ETBU tomorrow, business permitting, and argue with the business office about whether or not they have, or will mail, my check.
This brings on a new project concerning my money now: The “Monopoly Budget.” I have until the end of January to determine how much it will cost each month for a year to live in Waco, in a 1-bedroom apartment/efficiency. And then, starting Feb 1sdt, I have to have enough money in my bank to have been able to pay that each month, so that I will appreciate what my parents are doing for me. This is because my step-dad is concerned that I don’t take my financial situation seriously, because I gave Dr. Brooks a day to find out about my check, because he said he would. But anyway…
I”m gong to have to call Valerie and see what apartments she lives in and check to see if it is ok to stop by her place and get some details from her apartment people. Eventually, I want to have someone in most every town that I know so I can do something like that. Call up, get info, and hang out with for a bit.

When Amy and I went to Longview, so she could find a car, I Talked to Jay Lanier up at Chick-fil-a and asked where he got his truck. So we checked there. The point is, they feel like partners/associates/colleagues that I Can call. “My people” if you will; and I wouldn’t mind if someone thought of me as one of their “people” too. It’s all kinda cool…networking.

Anyway, that’s all for tonight. I’ll work more on The Spot. Laterz.

  • Song in my head: “Valentine” – Martina McBride
  • Craving: Sweet Tea
  • Mood: Indigestion/Creative
  • Thought: “Ok, let’s look at this on the bright side, now I get to choose what kind of apartment I want, and I can be creative. Perhaps I can move close to Valerie. :)”

I'm Neo, creator of the-spot.net. This journal is a digital form of the paperback journal that I kept each day from December 21, 2002 until March 23, 2003. It details my life experiences during those three months: the transition from college sophomore to adult, interactions with my parents, and general life after leaving the private college on-campus "bubble". These days I'm much better now, and living on my own. I haven't talked to my parents since May 2005 when my brother graduated high school.

“Valentine” by Martina McBride is SUCH a good song. The Piano in it is played by Jim Brickman, and it is beautiful music. I learned how to play it. I love it! Martina McBride and Jim Brickman are amazing and talented musicians!!!

I’ve not been updating this as much as I had in the past, because of my recent sickness, work/school obligations, and computer difficulties. I’ll keep updating as I can and will soon be back on track.

Aparently “soon” has translated into nearly 5 months…my computer has been down, got a new job, built a new computer, worked on a couple other technology projects concerning the computer, and am just now getting back into the swing of things with tsn and stuff. I should be doing a revamp of all the sites including getting this back on track by next month.
