Today was much easier on me than the past couple weeks. I went to work and got to cook. To me, that is the easy job. I had everything done and more by the time the shift changed. (that left nothing for Tom to do 🙂 ). Since I had time left over, I got some briefcases I found in the dumpster while taking out my trash. They were still in good condition and were for a garage sale for $1.00. I cleaned them up and have them here now so I can be professional.

I got an awesome surprise today while I was at work also. Brian, roommate of Ben G (SonsOfWisdom), came to visit me on his way back to ETBU from Austin (or San Antonio). He got rid of the Hatch-mobile and has a ’91 Honda Accord. It looks pretty nice for 12 years old. Anyway, we talked for about 5-10 minutes. It was great to see someone that still cared enough to stop by and say “hi”. That makes two people that have tried to make contact with me from the Group. Beth called that Sunday, so that’s 3 in all.

When I got home, I talked with my mom about a bunch of stuff. It was a neat experience. I don’t ever just talk to my parents. They usually just lecture me. we happened to be on the subject of DQ when my stepdad got home, so he joined in on the conversation. I got some great advice about managing a company, dealing with people, solving problems, and handling legal issues as well as examples from his job and from when my mom worked for Mervyn’s.

My parents are thinking of having me pay off my mom’s car, them take my car, and me leaving in September. I don’t have a problem leaving early…it is just being financially capable of supporting myself so soon. But I would like to keep my car, and not get a different one. But we will have to see how it all works out.

So in all, Brian, cooking, the briefcases, and great advice on being the best manager DQ has had has made my day today. Laterz.

I'm Neo, creator of the-spot.net. This journal is a digital form of the paperback journal that I kept each day from December 21, 2002 until March 23, 2003. It details my life experiences during those three months: the transition from college sophomore to adult, interactions with my parents, and general life after leaving the private college on-campus "bubble". These days I'm much better now, and living on my own. I haven't talked to my parents since May 2005 when my brother graduated high school.
