I went to work today a little early, so I could get out of the house early. I did go by the post office to get a certified mail set up for my tax stuff.
I worked with Justin while I was there, but I feel unfulfilled about it. I had to place the grocery order and take care of some other things, so I couldn’t focus all my attention on training him. I did, however, get a list printed up of all the foods we make in the kitchen and how they are made to give him to study. I got that idea from Amy as she learned what all Outback makes and how to describe each one. I also stayed after my shift and worked on getting the computer setup to run faster and make better use of its energy.
When I came home, I worked on my latest cartoon character. This one is a girl, named Dungan. The reason: I had to look at a picture of Beth and I had to figure out how to draw a female face. The main difference is that females have cheek bones that are visible. I don’t know yet, though, how to draw breasts protruding from behind the shirt. I do know that it involves shading, but there is not much shading I can do on a white over-cloth that drapes down from the shoulders to the feet. I’m sure I’ll think of something.
So, because I had to use the lovely features of Beth, I modeled the facial features and hair style after her and named it thus. And, although it doesn’t resemble her clearly, she was the first girl I took a major interest in during college, and the first girl character I drew resembling my college friends.
Next will be the Benji’s and one that resembles Jay Lanier. I don’t have any problems with the faces and hairstyles, it is the clothing that gives me the most problems. I want to do a cyborg-like character and call it Neo, as well as another called Forced Rush or Punix-GT. Those are the names that we were going to use for etbuers.com, which had a blue metallic look to the site’s design. I am leaning more towards Punix-GT though.
Also, starting in March, I am going to add a new feature to my journal: Wierd Word. It will pose the question of why something is called what it is called. For example a “crab”…what makes that animal have the name “crab” and why does that word even exist? It is basically a rhetorical feature, but feel free to share your opinions in the forum. I’ll probably do one each week. Hopefully they will spark up some interesting conversations.
Anyway, that’s all for tonight. Time to work more on Dungan. Laterz.
