Well, I don’t guess I will ever have a real day off.

This morning we went to the bank and changed my minimum account balance requirement from $1000 to $600…but I am still under that once my written checks clear the bank.

When I got home, I had to hit the streets on Walkabout to pass out my Lawn Mowing Service fliers. It wasn’t so bad at first because I only had to do 1/4 of the town. So I went down Highway 171 and then down the road to Penelope, to the ritzy-country houses (the city folk in the country, but that have un-worked land). I didn’t pass any out there though. Those yards are just too big to mow by hand. So I walked from Penelope Highway to Highway 31 and made a stop at the DQ before returning home.

When I get home, I finally get to rest after walking for about 1:45 hours. Then…DQ calls. My brother’s check that was Fed-Ex’d to us came…or I should say the envelope came. There was no check in it. So after much deliberation we conclude later in the day that the check was sent via UPS and the Fed-Ex box was for a flyer…nevertheless the envelope was empty. So the check should be in tomorrow.

So I came back home from DQ and receive a call from my stepdad that I have to do another 1/4 of the town and then mow the lawn. *sigh*…*grown*…*twitch*. So I leave at 2:30-ish to go walkabout again. But this time, I am taking something to do. So I scrounge around for batteries and my Walk-Man, and just for kicks, my mini-cassette recorder.

Well, after 5-10 minutes into the walk, my Walk-Man stops working. So I turn to the recorder and decide to dictate a letter to Jay. (I have got nothing else to do…). I do get looks walking up and down the street talking to myself, but I don’t care. Soon, the whole town will re-learn my name. I take my time going all over town, not just the quadrant I was sent to. I stroll down Highway 31 to Ace Hardware to see if they have any Asphalt for the potholes at DQ, but they don’t. So I take the back-roads back home and discover two houses for rent and two for sale…interesting.

Anyway, I finally get home an hour later. So I sit on my bed for 30 minutes or so, then watch Oprah. It was pretty nice. I only watched the part with Billy Crystal in it though. Then I remember I still have to mow the lawn. Ugh…well, I didn’t want to hear about it when my stepdad gets home, so I take my time to do it perfect.

I get dressed in some comfortable clothes, and set out with the mower. I mow it once, then a second time so I don’t have to hear about “you missed a spot…” Having done that, I took the opportunity to blow all the clippings from the yard to the sidewalk for sweeping. then proceed to sweep. It’s too difficult to get the grass together…Next, I try to weed-eater. Much better. It clears a small path along the edge of the grass, leaving the clippings in the middle of the sidewalk. Now time for sweeping. I gather all the clippings into piles in the middle of the squares on the sidewalk, scoop them up, and then I’m done.

I guess I was raised also in such a way that I am unable to sell a person something that I wouldn’t buy myself. So my lawn has to be perfect for me to feel good about selling my services. I’m the same way with my programs, drawings and websites (and even advice).

Well, I didn’t hear anything about the lawn, not even a “very nice,” but it’s probably because it was dark. He did say that I “might be learning.” blah blah blah.

I also re-did the work schedule tonight. Tom left a note in my office that he wanted to work nights…I guess so he can take the days to work on his land so he can move his trailer home. It’s a long story, but he has to move it over because his Aunt sold the land out from under them (him and his family).

It only took 20 minutes. No big deal. and I like this one better. It doesn’t require so much money to be paid to payroll. We’ll see how Steve takes the two though. Amway, that’s all for today, I’m pretty tired, and I don’t like this pen. Laterz.

I'm Neo, creator of the-spot.net. This journal is a digital form of the paperback journal that I kept each day from December 21, 2002 until March 23, 2003. It details my life experiences during those three months: the transition from college sophomore to adult, interactions with my parents, and general life after leaving the private college on-campus "bubble". These days I'm much better now, and living on my own. I haven't talked to my parents since May 2005 when my brother graduated high school.
