New year’s eve. Time to reflect on the events of this past year. This could be a long journal entry. So here is a mostly chronological list of events of 2002.

  • Met the group of friends I have now because of a girl I met at etbu in a chat room for my website – etbustudents.cc
  • Formation of the Merle Lobby Rats
  • Formation of the Holy Nerd Herd, a drama team made up of the Merle Lobby Rats.
  • Disolution of Holy Nerd Herd to Merle Lobby Rats
  • Creation of the Holy Cows intramural softball team.
  • I’m given the nickname “Chilly Willy” by Cracky, “Ica”, and “Loven”
  • I spend more time with Beth (Bethnangel of etbustudents.cc) my best friend.
  • My first “real” kiss… 😉 not just a simple peck.
  • Holy Cows go “undefeating” all season
  • I date a Senior in college as a freshman 😉
  • Leave for the summer, after much debate with my parents about returning to etbu, resulting in the planned return, and still dating the Senior.
  • Work all summer at DQ, meet a girl at work that takes interest in me, but I am taken, so I digress.
  • Return to etbu, as an RA in Fry with my own room
  • I find out that girl I was “dating” decided that I didn’t like her and got a boyfriend over the summer.
  • Take interest in a nother girl, no luck there.
  • Amy catches my eye, but I catch her roommate’s eye, and the roommate and I hang out for a while.
  • The roommate (Laura) and I break it off.
  • I take up pool after meals.
  • The Merle Lobby Rats move to Lineberry
  • Tuesday duty nights as an RA blow!
  • Nicky and I date for a week.
  • Thanksgiving…hmph…
  • I start hanging out with Amy…
  • Amy and I are “interested”, then “dating,” continue “dating” until the end of the semester.
  • I announce to my friends I will not be returning next semseter. Tears, hearts, and hopes fall.
  • Reluctantly go home, work as head shift leader, then soon-to-be-manager of Hubbard DQ.
  • Buy a car when I get home.
  • Work every day, write a journal every day, think of my friends every day (one more than others)
  • Reflect on the year, where I could be, where I should be, where I am, and realize that I screwed this one up BIG time.

If I had only studied more like I planned to do, I would have still met Amy, and most likely still been able to do all the things we have done together, and we weould be “hooked-up” by next semester. But I lost that when I decided that I could do all my homework after 12:00a.m. and still make good grades.

So here’s looking at a new year. Or more acurately (to reflect how I feel) “another set of 365 days in which the earth will continue to revolve around the sun.

Dah well…for those of you reading this, I wish I could be with y’all on campus to celebrate the new year, instead of sitting on my bathroom floor so I can stay up late to write this. I would really like to call Amy and be on the phone with her as the clock strikes 12:00, but my parents. Well, I will just have to be content with thinking about her (and everyone else) instead, and hope they have given me a thought. Laterz.

Song in my head: Auld Lang Syne
Cravings: Insider Pepperoni Pizza
Mood: Nostalgic/Regretful
Thought: “If only…well, I know now that I have to look ahead and plan everything out like I did my first semester as a freshman.”
Quote: “But the beat goes one…bah dah doom de doom dah dah dah doom de doom.” – Eminem, Lose Yourself

I'm Neo, creator of the-spot.net. This journal is a digital form of the paperback journal that I kept each day from December 21, 2002 until March 23, 2003. It details my life experiences during those three months: the transition from college sophomore to adult, interactions with my parents, and general life after leaving the private college on-campus "bubble". These days I'm much better now, and living on my own. I haven't talked to my parents since May 2005 when my brother graduated high school.
