About [[Neo]]

[[Neo]]

I am a web programmer, system integrator, and photographer. I have been writing code since high school, when I had only a TI-83 calculator. I enjoy getting different systems to talk to each other, coming up with ways to mimic human processes using technology, and explaining how complicated things work. Of my many blogs, this one is purely about the technology projects, ideas, and solutions that I have come across in my internet travels. It's also the place for technical updates related to my other sites that are part of The-Spot.Network.

WordPress 3.9.1, Javascript “TypeError: a is undefined”

May 17, 2014 |

Update: WordPress released Jetpack 3.0.0, followed closely by 3.0.1 claiming that it works 100% with WordPress 3.9.1 “according to its author.” (Spoiler alert, it doesn’t.) There seems to be a problem now in the Publicize & Related Posts features of Jetpack, making them the features I have to toggle off when I want to write a new blog post – which is terrible since Publicize is the one you want turned on when you post. For the past couple weeks, I have been unable to insert media into my WordPress Posts, or even see the Media listed out in the Media Gallery.

Today I decided to bust out the web developer console and take a look at any error messages that came up in Firefox. There was one…

x| TypeError: a is undefined

Unfortunately it’s an error spit out by jQuery, which is totally useless in tracking back to the actual problem. Read More

It’s been a while since I’ve done any work on the-spot.net … in fact it’s been nearly 6 years to the date (3/31/2008) since I updated the MySpot page with some of the “new” features that page has. Now many of those features are broken because the technology or application or service they used has disappeared. Read More

How to set up ChromeADB on Windows

January 22, 2014 |

Earlier today I caught a shared post in my Google+ stream talking about a Chrome Webstore App called ChromeADB.

This ChromeADB app is by no means the only way to interact with the software installed on your Android device, but it does give an easy to use interface that stays within the Chrome and Google/Android infrastructure without grabbing a bunch of different third-party pieces to put together.

The following steps assume that you have already been able to get Google Glass to show up in your Windows Device manager as a recognized device. If you haven’t, I’ll have a tutorial on how to do that in the near future. Read More

“OK Glass…Amaze me.”

January 21, 2014 |

The day after Thanksgiving 2013, I became a member of a group only a handful of people in the DFW area can claim to be part of: Glass Explorers. And inside that small group is an even smaller subsection who refer to themselves as #teamcharcoal.

Google Glass - Charcoal

Google Glass – Charcoal

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I had received my invite to buy Google Glass, but didn’t realize it until a local friend, Phillip Kasper, announced that he had received his invite. I looked at my email the next day and noticed an invite of my own. I had saved up money for purchasing it, but I never thought the invite would come within the same year as their début.

I ordered them, that day (and then told the wife about it later,,,oops! ^_^;; ), only to find Read More

[[Neo]], Rebuilt in 2013

For the first time since 2007, I decided it was time to upgrade my computer processor, and everything else in the box along with it.

Six years to the day, on July 4th, 2013 I performed open-case surgery on my primary gaming computer, aka [[Neo]], and on my media-server-turned-gaming-PC that my wife has used, aka [[Oracle]], and migrated the internals of [[Neo]] into [[Oracle]] and bought all new parts for [[Neo]]. Read More
