Update: tsnX – Profile CP @ 99.9%

I just finished editing the code for the profile control panel. I only have to test it now, but I can’t do that until I get a response and resolution to the domain name issues. For some reason “the-spot.net” does not work, but the other domains that I have on this site do. So I have sent an email to the server people for advice or a solution, and am awaiting their response. When I have gotten it, and the server works, and I can verify that the code is right on the site, then I’ll post a link for people to start using the forums. You’ll have to rejoin for now, but you don’t have to bother filling out all the information that you normally would…unless you want to. I’ll be putting the old database over this new database structure (if possible) when it’s all upgraded.

I’ll post more later. GN

I am a web programmer, system integrator, and photographer. I have been writing code since high school, when I had only a TI-83 calculator. I enjoy getting different systems to talk to each other, coming up with ways to mimic human processes using technology, and explaining how complicated things work.

Of my many blogs, this one is purely about the technology projects, ideas, and solutions that I have come across in my internet travels. It's also the place for technical updates related to my other sites that are part of The-Spot.Network.

The server people fixed the domain name issue, so now http://www.the-spot.net goes to a page and not to an error. I’ve also tested the Pages and the Profile CP works just fine, it’s the sub-forums that aren’t working I think…or the profile cp code in the forum pages. I’m still trying to figure out what the errors mean, because there are no errors where it says there are.

Alrighty mate, keep us updated as you always do. What sucks is that I was going to do a backup only to find the site was down…so I’m feelin kinda bittersweet that I didn’t >_> I have no idea if not backing up was a good idea or not. Dah well.

it’s ok…there’s nothing wrong with the site, I just had to disallow access, and then something went wrong with a single table in the database that regulates who’s online. It’s not a hard table to recreate, and one that I could copy over, but because the code that lets people view forums is the security issue, I cannot just do that.

but all the data is there, and I have 3 backups of tsnV on 3 different computers, so no worries.

I went back and recoded the viewtopic.php page which was giving me errors that I mentioned in the first comment, and now, instead of errors that don’t make any sense, there is an error that had to do with both mods messing with the same code, and that one is easy enough to fix. So I’ll look into that tonight in class. So it’s almost done! (these two mods)

Then hopefully I’ll be able to just use the easy mod thing for most of the other changes.
