The Car Deal

Whew! I just got home from work @ 11:15 PM!!! I went at 8:00 a.m. to do the grocery count and the paperwork alone took an hour. Not good. Then counting to make sure everything was delivered, then training Carol better. I did all that before 12:00. That is good time. Then I ate lunch and worked on a new register overlay in Excel…I can do anything in MS Office (but I have know that for 5 years) It looks pretty and easier to read now. It impressed everyone at work, even myself.

Trading Cars??

Today was much easier on me than the past couple weeks. I went to work and got to cook. To me, that is the easy job. I had everything done and more by the time the shift changed. (that left nothing for Tom to do 🙂 ). Since I had time left over, I got some briefcases I found in the dumpster while taking out my trash. They were still in good condition and were for a garage sale for $1.00. I cleaned them up and have them here now so I can be professional.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! That’s what I heard on my door after I get in bed last night. “Can you tell me why my light is on?! You owe me a dollar,” my stepdad says. Apparently I left a hallway light on. That only added to the frustration I felt as I got back in bed. But it was better in the morning , I guess.

Old People and fast food

Ugh…I worked withi Amanda’s grandmother today. She is supposed to be trained to be my counter-part as shift leader. NOPE! Not her. she is less mature than me (and she is in her 60s, at LEAST!). But she is also slow and clueless, and has not impressed me one bit. She has until the end of the week to show me that she can effectively do her job.

That special friend…

Today was slow, but not slow enough, once I got home. We didn’t do much business (it seemed) at DQ, but we did more sales than I thought. Today we had to let Gail, one of our new employees, go. She called in sick twice in a row, later than she was allowed both times. Steve (nor I) are going to put up with that. He had things to do and needs dependable people…me, well, I just have to go by the book because I would probably mess something up if I got creative with procedures.

A website for my friends to hang out on…

Yep. Just as I thought…boring. In church today, I had enough time to read Titus, like Micah had suggested the last week of school to the college class. It is a book that I should have read a long time ago, and it only took 10 minutes to read.

I saw two girls that I have had a crush on for a while there at church, but they are too young for me at the moment (under 18, I don’t know how old they are, but they’re in high school.) I didn’t make any effort though. I usually don’t until there is a reason for me to be talking to them.

Anyway, Beth (my best friend) called today! (more…)

Some disturbing decisions…

Busy, but slow day today…I learned, finally, how to take the ice cream machine apart at work. It has taken 2.5 years for someone to show me. It’s really very simple…but anyway. Gail, a new lady, called in sick today with a headache. Steve, my boss wasn’t too happy about that, and for any informed employee (which she is not, at the moment) it is gorunds for automatic termination. Reason being is that she probably didn’t know she has to call in 4 hours before her shift if she is not going to come. It was no biggie thought, we had enough people to cover it.

I got some disturbing decisions on my car tonight. (more…)

Tired…I’m tired…

Tired…I’m tired. I worked 9.5 hours today with no break. I started at 7, went to work at 8 got off at 5:30 (I had to stay over for Amanda while she went to her grandfather’s funeral). Hmm..she says she likes me, but I can’t do anything about it until March (when she turns 18). I imagine we will be boyfriend/girlfriend, even though we won’t be able to do much of anything. Dah well…it is not important.

Jokes with my brother…

Ok, my brother won’t leave me alone so I can start my journal entry…we keep thinking of jokes, and everything we say leads to another joke.

We got some new stuff today at DQ…2 new shelves and a new push cart…and a new employee. She did well for her first day in 10 years. I also learned how to do the food order on the computer, as well as get to cook for the first time since I have been back. It was a fun, busy, exciting day. I don’t really know what to write about today. I had a dream last night that a tornado hit Hubbard, but (more…)

Pancakes for breakfast…

Hmm…well, we had pancakces this morning. I don’t usually eat breakfast, but I will make an exception for pancakes.

Afterwards…a lecture. But this time, it was a “you said something good” lecture. I mentioned that I have a shot at being manager of DQ and that the last manager (who, at the time, had worked for DQ for 2.5 years) made $30,000 a year. That’s good money for a 19-20 year old kid. So my direction has changed from going to TSTC in the fall, to going to TSTC later. That puts me behind schedule and postponds the broadcast of this journal as well as contact with my friends. DANG!
