Apparently there is not a forgive and forget policy for Google’s Adsense program. The first time I registered for Adsense, my friend and I got a little greedy, and clicked our own ads from all kinds of sources, including anonymous proxies…even going so far as to devise a code in the site to generate impressions automatically, incase that also generated revenue. It did not.
Then our adsense was revoked. So I registered for the program via a different website, weary of using the same bank account, but using a different address, and things seemed to be going fine for about 3 months. Then I get an email telling me that my account has been determined to be associated with an account that was previously disabled.
This is true. However, with this new account, I was extremely careful to avoid anything that might look suspicious according to the terms of service. That doesn’t matter apparently.
So I’m giving up on Google Adsense because of this, and because I learned that you have to amass $100 before you ever get any payments. (I was under the impression that you were paid regardless every month, with a 2-3 month delay in payments) Instead I will stick to my previous mantra that ads are not required to run a website, and they’re tacky and offensive in any presentation.
Instead, I’ll use the space which has no other designation to advertise my own network of sites, since most people that are involved in one part of the network are aware of the others, but may not always visit them.
Good job Google.
